Westfield Bike Patrol Goes Electric
Midtown Authentic's Rory Chadwick donated a bike built exclusively for law enforcement.

WESTFIELD, NJ - The newly implemented Westfield Bike Patrol will be moving a little faster thanks to an electric bike donation by businessman Rory Chadwick.
Westfield Police Chief Christopher Battiloro said the rugged electric patrol bike was built by Trek exclusively for law enforcement. It is not available in stores, nor can it be purchased online. It is equipped with a powerful Bosch motor for sustained speeds of up to 28 MPH, a light and tough alloy frame, a high-quality suspension fork, and patrol-ready features, like an included rack and kickstand.
Last month, Battiloro announced the implementation of bicycle patrols in downtown Westfield. Since then, officers have been deployed on bikes for large public events, such as the Sweet Sounds Downtown Music Festival each Tuesday night.

Battiloro said the Bicycle Patrol has been utilizing refurbished, 20-year old bicycles. Battiloro said he was grateful to Chadwick for the donation and “for his ongoing support of the Westfield Police Department’s community policing efforts.”
This electric bike will allow our officers “to patrol safer, farther and faster,” said Battiloro.

Chadwick arranged for the purchase of the electric bike through Jay’s Cycle Center of Westfield, a Trek distributor.
