Westfield Councilwoman To Resign

The Westfield Republican Committee have 15 days to submit three names to be Vicki Kimmins' successor on the council

Westfield, NJ -- Councilwoman Vicki Kimmins will be resigning from the Westfield Town Council.

A letter from Kimmins, who was not present, announcing her resignation was read at the April 19 council meeting. It stated she would be relocating due to an employment opportunity out of state.

"As a lifelong resident I will truly miss the various organizations and various residents I have come to know over the years," Kimmins wrote. "It has been my great honor to serve the town council for 11 years… I leave knowing the town of Westfield is in good hands."

Once her seat is open, the Westfield Republican Committee will have 15 days to submit three names for selection for a successor to fill her vacancy, said Councilman Keith Loughlin.

The Westfield Mayor and Council will then have 15 days after that to select and vote on one of the names. The name with the majority vote from the council will be selected to fill her term until the next election in November.
