WESTFIELD, NJ — Democrats sweep the election in Westfield.
Here are the unofficial results of the 2017 Township Mayor and Council, school board and county elections.

In Westfield the mayor seat was up for grabs with two candidates running. Republican incumbent Andrew K. Skibitsky lost with 4,077 votes against democrat Michelle W. Brindle with 5,925 votes for the four-year seat.
On the council side all four wards were contested. All four wards had one four-year seat available.

For the 1st ward candidates include Democrat Linda S. Habgood got 1,567 votes over and republican incumbent Sam Della Fera had 1,032 votes. For the 2nd ward candidates, democrat Michael J. Dardia won with 1,314 votes over republican James J. Corcoran with 1,063.
For the 3rd ward candidates democratic newcomer David M. Contract won with 1,266 votes over republican incumbent David Oliveira with 1,036 votes. For the 4th ward candidates, democrat Dawn Mackey won with 1,367 votes over republican incumbent Keith Loughlin with 1,074 votes and independent Valerio Bruscianelli with 19 votes.
Board of Education:
A total of five candidates were vying for three, three-year terms. Candidates Kent Diamond had 2,785 votes, Margaret Oster had 3,800 and Lynn Benner had 3,475 to win over Simon Cirasa with 1,862 and Anthony Marotta with 1,911 votes.
Results are unofficial until certified by the Union County Clerk and do not include absentee ballots.
