Former Westfielder's Product Featured at Daytime Emmy's

Former Westfield resident Stacey Maggio is not only ready to walk the red carpet at the Daytime Emmy awards on Saturday, June 23 at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Ca., but the product she developed has been selected for the show's gift bags.  

After graduating from in 1980, Maggio attended the University of Colorado Boulder before moving to California.

"I lived in Southern California, the avocado capital of the world. Once I found out all the benefits of avocado oil it made sense to develop a products around that concept," said the founder and owner of Viavo, an avocado-based skincare line. 

Maggio said she is thrilled to have her product placed in the gift bags. All she needs now is a show-stopping dress, she said.

Viavo began in Southern California, the avocado capital of the world, in 2006. After 16 years of marketing and promotions experience with Sony Electronics, Ms. Maggio dreamed about starting her own business in skincare industry. After obtaining her esthetician’s license in California, she returned to her home state of New Jersey and combined her marketing background with her entrepreneurial drive to launch Viavo.

“I always wanted to get my company and products back to the Golden State from the Garden State, but I never in my wildest dreams thought it would be at the Emmys,” said Ms. Maggio.

Ms. Maggio credits her company’s success with an outstanding product and a savvy for social media. Working with a company called “Go to Girls,” she launched her first youtube video on Superbowl Sunday -- the day that more avocados are consumed than on any other day of the year.  “I wear your shirt,” another Internet marketer which makes videos about up and coming companies, created "Preserve Your Sexy with Viavo" for her youtube launch. The humorous results can be seen on Viavo’s homepage at www.viavo.net.  The video was quickly spotted by “Off the Wall” promotions, who invited her to participate in the Emmys.  

“I thought it was a joke at first,” said Ms. Maggio. “Now I am a true believer in the power of social media!”
