Westfield Extends Outdoor Smoking Ban

The new ban extends from public places like parks to public events.

WESTFIELD, NJ - The vote was swift and unanimous as the Westfield Mayor and Council voted to extend the existing smoking ban during their meeting Tuesday night.

The vote, taken after a second hearing where no one on either side of the dias chose to comment, amending general ordinance 2121 and bans smoking from certain public events like AddamsFest, FestiFall and jazz nights. There is already an existing ban on smoking in public parks.

According to officials, the ban also include electronic smoking devices.

"The ban is consistent with the smoking ban that already exists for parks and sidewalk cafes," Mayor Shelley Brindle said.
