Westfield Friends Book Sale Thank You
2017 Westfield Memorial Library Book Sale Thank You
Thank you from the co-presidents of the Friends of the Westfield Memorial Library:
We would like to thank the community for making our 44th annual Spring Booksale a success. With the help of the Westfield Department of Public Works and the Board of Education, we were able to set up the bookcases and tables needed to display over 30,000 books, CD's, and DVD's.Trader Joe's, Kings, Costco, and ShopRite provided boxes and bags that were used to organize items and hold purchases. We thank the Giordano Company for picking up more than 100 boxes of recycled materials. Over 150 volunteers worked more than 1200 hours, serving as sorters and organizers prior to and during the sale, and sales assistants and cashiers during the sale. Several members worked many hours reaching out to the community to distribute flyers and solicit volunteers. Many more prepared the library's community room for the sale; others trimmed boxes for sorting and recycling. In addition to our Friends community, volunteer support came from many groups, including the Westfield High School Key Club, students from Seton Hall Prep, and the Girl Scouts. Over 500 people brought us books, CD's, and DVD's. Several who came to drop off donations stayed to help. To all of you who were part of this endeavor, we extend a big "thank you". The proceeds raised by this sale provide unrestricted funding to our library, underwrite the popular museum pass program, and provide special children's and adults' library programs, We encourage all Westfield residents to become members of the Friends, patronize our programs, and support our annual sale--as volunteers, donors, or shoppers. Sincerely, Cindy Colicchio and Christine Mason Co-Presidents, Friends of the Westfield Memorial Library
