Westfield Intermediate School Students Get Lesson in Resiliency
Marc Mero, former WWE wrestling champion visited Westfield schools.
WESTFIELD, NJ — In keeping with the Westfield School District’s goal of encouraging coping skills and resiliency, on Friday, Oct. 14, Roosevelt and Edison Intermediate Schools heard an inspiring presentation from Marc Mero, former WWE wrestling champion, entitled "Champion of Choices."
His presentation was optimistic and filled with the message of resilience while reminding the sixth, seventh and eighth graders to believe in themselves as they make choices in their lives.
The author of “How to be the Happiest Person on the Planet” described how he reached the pinnacle of sports-entertainment success – then lost it all — but in the process discovered what’s most important in life.

In facing adversity, Mero explained, “It’s not how many times you get knocked down; it’s how many times you get back up. You can do anything you set your mind to.”
Afterward, Mero remained to talk with students and staff.
