Westfield Mayor, 3 Councilmembers Won't Seek Re-Election
Democrats Shelley Brindle, Linda Habgood, Mike Dardia, and David Contract "each independently decided not to seek a third term."

WESTFIELD, NJ — Democrat Mayor Shelley Brindle and Councilmembers Linda Habgood, Mike Dardia, and David Contract will not be seeking re-election in 2025 after serving the Town for the past eight years.
"We have achieved our goal of leaving Westfield better than when we started," wrote Brindle, Habgood, Dardia, and Contact on Brindle's Facebook page on Monday.
Brindle and her four council running mates — Habgood, Dardia, Contract, and Dawn Mackey — were first elected in 2017. Mackey resigned this past September.

The team served for two terms and "each independently decided not to seek a third term."
"Working together, we exceeded our wildest expectations by every measure," wrote the team.

The team's letter went on to list their accomplishments over the past eight years including delivering multiple annual budgets with a zero percent tax increase; investment in roads, public spaces, and infrastructure; created AddamsFest; preserved a record number of historic homes; and resurgence of their downtown.
"It’s now time to pass the torch to a new generation of leaders, ones who will carry our mission forward and build upon our legacy commitment to ensuring that Westfield is always one of the best places to live in America," said the team. "Thank you Westfield for allowing us to serve. It has been one of the greatest privileges of our lives.
