Westfield Mayor-Elect Is Looking For Volunteers To Serve The Town

WESTFIELD, NJ — Mayor-elect Shelley Brindle and the council-elects Linda Habgood, Mike Dardia, David Contract, and Dawn Mackey is asking residents interested in serving Westfield in any volunteer capacity to apply.

“During our campaign, I met so many talented individuals who are eager to participate and volunteer in our community,” said Brindle.

“In order to tap into the talent of all of our residents, we’re opening the process to allow for anyone to apply to serve on one of the many Boards and Committees, as well as to volunteer for new initiatives that will be announced after the new year,” Brindle said.

The application, along with descriptions for the various Boards and Commissions, can be found on the town website at www.westfieldnj.gov/volunteertoday.

Deadline to submit applications for Board consideration is Sunday, Dec. 10 and appointments will be made at the Jan. 2, 2018 during the Organizational Meeting.

General Volunteer applications will be accepted at any time, with the initial review process matching needs and interests beginning in the new year. These general volunteer opportunities will require varying degrees of commitment, from ongoing to “done in a day” initiatives to enable as many residents as possible to participate.

There are a limited number of open positions on the existing Boards and Commissions for 2018, however more positions open up every year as terms conclude.
