The Westfield Memorial Library hosts New Jersey Makers Day on Saturday, March 26 with nine creative sessions for kids and adults. Sign up!

March 14, 20202 The Westfield Memorial Library is excited to announce that New Jersey Makers Day is coming to the library once again on Saturday, March 26 with nine sessions held between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. An all-ages event that celebrates maker culture across New Jersey, Makers Day is packed with hands-on, project-based activities that support making, tinkering, crafting, manufacturing and STEAM-based learning.
The activities provided by the Youth Services and Adult departments, and co-sponsored by the Friends of the Library, focus on science, technology, engineering, math and creative learnings. They are designed to be fun and stimulate critical thinking, curiosity and literacy.
In the 3D House Paper Circuit Workshop, children can create and decorate a 3D paper house and then wire it to shine with an LED light. Or they can take the head of a toothbrush, some pipe cleaners, and a small battery and motor to make fun, moving creatures in the Bristlebots Workshop. Adults can learn to knit with loop yarn, using a new technique that doesn’t require the use of needles.
