A new facade is in place and construction permits were approved for the Lions Roar Brewing Co..

WESTFIELD, NJ - The highly-anticipated Lions Roar Brewing Co. is moving closer to opening as they have a new facade on the building and passed a few more logisitical hurdles this month.

Owners Tim and Corinne Grant posted to social media that the company received federal licensing approval and we got construction permits.

"Big things are brewing (but not literally yet)," the post said.

The microbrewery is a husband and wife owned business, owned by the Westfield residents. The Grants have two toddler-aged children and have lived in Westfield for the past six years. As for when the place might open, the Grants have a timeline in mind.

"Breweries can take between six months to a year to open, so our target year is 2019," Grant said told Patch previously. "This is in large part because the approval process for federal and state licensing takes a long time to receive."

Grant said that both she and her husband, who will be serving as head brewer, love European-style beers and the plan is to lean heavily in that direction.

"But we of course will be offering up the American craft staples as well," Grant said.

Grant said she also sees opportunities to connect with other local businesses in town.

"NJ law prohibits us from making or selling our own food, so it's a fantastic opportunity to work with our local restaurants," she said. "Customers can bring food in, or have it delivered from any one of our town's delicious options."

Grant said that both her and her husband are proud to be opening a south side business in Westfield.

"We hope to play a part in making the south side a destination for both residents and traveling beer lovers," Grant said. "We can't wait to work with our fellow Westfield business owners and help drive traffic to our downtown."

According to Grant, being a part of the Westfield community helped inspire their decision to open the business.

"As residents, we know the need for a place like Lions Roar in town, and we are so excited about being the ones to bring it to our community," Grant said.
