Westfield Native Selected To Represent The Corps Of Cadets At The Military Bowl

Westfield native and member of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets, Cadet Christopher Jimenez, will participate in this year's Military Bowl.

Westfield native and member of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets, Cadet Christopher Jimenez, has been selected to help highlight the colors at this years Military Bowl.

Jimenez, photographed second to the left, is a junior majoring in sociology in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences and a member of the Air Force ROTC.

He will be alongside other high-performing cadets chosen to receive an American flag, the state flag, and the team’s spirit flag after they have been walked across the field by three football players who were also selected based off of their performance on the field.

The cadets render honor to the flags and then securely carry them off the field.

The following cadets have been selected to represent the Corps of Cadets at the Military Bowl in Annapolis, Maryland, where Virginia Tech will play the University of Cincinnati on Saturday, Dec 27:

  • Cadet Christopher Blaney of Canfield, Ohio, a junior majoring in mathematics in theCollege of Science (http://www.science.vt.edu) who is a member of Air Force ROTC and is a recipient of an Emerging Leader Scholarship
  • Cadet Lindsey Hobbs of Stafford, Virginia, a junior majoring in international studies in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences who is a member of Army ROTC(http://www.armyrotc.vt.edu) and is a recipient of an Emerging Leader Scholarship
  • Cadet Brady Marston of O’Fallon, Illinois​, a junior majoring in aerospace engineering in the College of Engineering who is a member of Naval ROTC and is a recipient of an Emerging Leader Scholarship.

All six cadets are members of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets Color Guard and Morales is serving as the color guard commander this year. In addition to receiving the flags during pre-game, the Color Guard will march in the Military Bowl Parade (http://www.militarybowl.org/gameday/parade/) and then present the colors at the President’s reception.

Future cadets will continue to be selected for this honor based on their performance in the cadet regiment. The program is part of the proud partnership the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets has with the Virginia Tech Athletic Department and the Virginia Tech football team.
