Westfield Opens Free Flag Football Registration For Children With Disabilities

WESTFIELD, NJ — Families can now register for Westfield Champions, a free flag football program for children with disabilities.

The program is open to Westfield residents ages 5 to 14 and will be held at Tamaques Park on three Saturdays in October.

According to the announcement, Westfield Champions is an inclusive league for any child or teen who would like to learn the game of flag football, spend time with a team buddy and take part in community activities.

Registration is open through the PAL website at www.westfieldpal.org by clicking register and then Westfield Champions.

"This is a great program for children with disabilities and it’s FREE," Westfield Police said.

"Our inclusive league is open to any child/teen ages 5-14 who would love to learn the game of flag football, spend time with a team buddy, and join in community fun," according to Westfield PAL.

Sessions are scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 17, 24 and 31 from 1:15 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Tamaques Park. Participants should meet by the fields near the GFF blue tent.

The program will include "Fun giveaways each session, 1:1 Teen Buddy."

There is no fee to participate.
