Westfield Police Reports: Two Dollars Taken, Twice
In two different incidents, two dollars were stolen. That and more in this week's police reports.

WESTFIELD, NJ — The paper boy in the classic 1980s film "Better Off Dead" is not, apparently, the only person who's after two dollars.
According to the Westfield police items from Oct. 11 through this past Saturday, someone broke into two different cars but was only able to make off with that amount.

On Oct. 15, 7:31 a.m., a resident of Summit Avenue reported that they were the victim of a burglary to their vehicle. The victim reported that unknown actor(s) entered their vehicle while it was parked in their driveway. The vehicle was apparently unlocked at the time of the incident. No items were stolen.
Oct. 15, 7:32 a.m., a resident of Tice Place said that someone entered their vehicle while it was in the driveway. The person stole $2 in U. S. currency as well as a garage door opener valued at $25. The vehicle was apparently unlocked at the time of the theft, police said.

On Oct. 15, 9:03 a.m., a resident of the next block of Tice Place reported being the victim of a burglary to their two vehicles. The victim reported that both of their vehicles were entered by unknown actor(s) while they were parked in their driveway. The victim reported that $2 in United States currency was stolen from one of the vehicles. Both vehicles were unlocked at the time of the burglary.
(Westfield's police chief has cautioned residents about being "complacent" and leaving cars unlocked.)
Oct. 15, 7:14 p.m., police responded to an accident at West Broad Street and Florence Avenue. Officers Popleik and Bagan arrested Julio Gonzalezosorio, 34, of West Orange and charged him with Driving While Intoxicated pursuant to an investigation regarding the accident, they said. "Subject was transported to headquarters where he was processed and released to a sober adult," police said.
