Westfield Police Seek Owner Of Husky Found Over The Weekend

WESTFIELD, NJ — A husky found over the weekend in Westfield has not yet been reunited with its owner, and police are asking the public for help.

Westfield Police said the dog was not claimed after spending two days at police headquarters being cared for by officers and dispatchers.

"Our personnel made sure he was well cared for during his stay, providing plenty of food, fresh water, walks, and lots of attention," said police. "He quickly became a favorite around the station!"

Police said the dog was turned over to Animal Control Solutions on Monday.

The department said the husky "will be held for seven days in an effort to locate his owner."

If the dog is not claimed during that period, "he will then be made available for adoption."

Police are asking residents to share information that could help identify where the dog belongs.

Residents who recognize the dog or have information that could help locate the owner are being asked to contact Animal Control Solutions at 908-722-1271.

The department also urged the public to spread the word and share its social media post.

The department said its goal is to reunite the dog with its family if possible.

"Our hope is that we can reunite this handsome guy with his family — or, if that isn’t possible, help him find a loving new home," said police.
