WESTFIELD, NJ — The filing deadline for the primary election was Monday and multiple candidates have thrown their hats in the ring for Town Council.

2023 Westfield Democratic Candidates

  • First Ward: Emily L. Root
  • Second Ward: Erika J. Vargas-Garrison
  • Third Ward: Dawn Alicia Nichol-Manning
  • Fourth Ward: Scott A. Katz

  • Second Ward: Michael Armento
  • Third Ward: Michal D. Domogala
  • Fourth Ward: David William Kiefer

Along with the town council race, candidates files to run in the primary for Union County Sheriff and three, three-year seats on the Union County Commission.

Incumbent Democratic Candidate Pete Corvelli of Kenilworth is running against Republican Candidate Gerardo Jerry Napolitano of Cranford for Sheriff.

For Union County Commission, there are six Democratic Candidates and three Republican Candidates running in the primary.

Democrat incumbents Lourdes Leon and Joseph C. Bodek are running with Michele S. Delisfort under the slogan "Regular Democratic Organization of Union County."

Democrats Travis Amaker, LaTysha Gaines, and Janet Vera Reynolds are running together under the slogan "I Am You Union County Democrats."

Republican candidates include Carlos Santos, Brian Johdos, and Cathy Jakositz are running together under the slogan "Regular Organization Republican of Union County."

Primary Election Day is June 6 in New Jersey.
