Westfield Resident Edward Gottko,PWLF, Elected National American Public Works Association President 2013-14

Edward A. Gottko, PWLF, of Westfield, New Jersey Named APWA President 

 KANSAS CITY, MO. – The American Public Works Association (APWA) announced recently its new 2013-2014 President is Edward A. Gottko, PWLF, of Westfield, New Jersey. After serving the past year as President-Elect, Gottko leads the organization as President and Chair of the 17 - member Board of Directors.  APWA’s priorities for the year include continuing to build and deliver professional development and credentialing programs through the APWA Donald C. Stone Center, supporting 63 chapters as they deliver programs locally, and advocating for enhanced infrastructure investment and sustainable communities throughout North America.

Gottko’s career in public works began in 1970, as the Assistant City Engineer for the City of Bayonne, New Jersey. In 1979, he was appointed the Town Engineer/Director of Public Works for the Town of Westfield, New Jersey, and served as Town Administrator in Westfield from 1994 to 2000, when he retired from public service. He is currently serving as adjunct professor for the New Jersey Institute of Technology and Union County College.

Gottko has also been actively involved in leadership positions with APWA since 1972 at both the New Jersey chapter and national levels.  He has chaired and served as a member of the Finance Committee, served as a member of the Education Committee, Master’s Degree Task Force, and the Education and Certification Taskforce.  Gottko is a Past President of the New Jersey Chapter, where he served as  Chapter President,  chaired the  Education/Training Committee,  was appointed Chapter Alternate Delegate, and served  as chapter Treasurer. In 2002, he received the Donald C. Stone Award for Excellence in Education.
