Westfield Couple to Open Sports Shop on South Ave. in May

The Silvas will open their third location in mid-May.

Westfield residents and business owners Paul and Daniela Silva look forward to opening the third location of their soccer specialty business in their hometown.

The couple is in the process of setting up shop at 317 South Ave. West and anticipates celebrating the grand opening of Pegasus Sporting Goods the weekend of May 12 and 13.

"We are excited about coming to Westfield because the town and surrounding areas like Cranford, Scotch Plains and Clark have long supported the sport of soccer but for years have lacked a local soccer specialty store they can shop," Paul said. "Pegasus Sporting Goods is looking forward to providing exceptional customer service to this deserving community."

The Silvas, with three decades of experience in the sporting goods industry, currently own two other stores, one in Newark and one in Harrison.

"Besides soccer footwear, apparel and equipment we will also bring in lacrosse/basketball/baseball/tennis footwear plus swimming accessories," Paul said.

The entrepreneur is pleased that the location offers a dozen free parking spaces adjacent to the building. Barring any restrictions from the Town, Paul said the store will be open daily. Monday through Friday, Pegasus will open at 9:30 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. On Saturdays, the shop's hours will be 9 a.m. through 7 p.m., while Sundays it will open at 9 a.m. and close at 4 p.m.

"We are planning to hire full and part-time positions," Paul said.
