Westfield Schools Will Go Remote For A Week After Spring Break
Break starts next week. As with other districts, the schools are hoping to avoid any increase in the spread of covid after the holidays.

WESTFIELD, NJ — The Westfield schools will go remote for a week after Spring Break, Superintendent Margaret Dolan announced earlier this month, a decision that other nearby districts (including Cranford) have made as well.
Spring Break in Westfield will run from this coming Monday through Monday, April 5, as of this writing. The school calendar is here.
Most area districts went remote for a week after winter break as well, to avoid the coronavirus spread following holiday gatherings.

Dolan also shared how the calendar will be affected by the use (and lack thereof) of the allotment of snow days.

Dear Westfield Public Schools Community,
To help families and staff plan ahead, I want to share with you a few important school calendar items regarding snow/emergency days and Spring Break.
As you know, three snow/emergency days are included in the calendar for the 2020-2021 school year. Currently, the district has used one snow/emergency day. Provided we do not need to utilize either of the two remaining snow/emergency days in the future, there will be no school on Monday, April 5 and Friday, May 28.
Additionally, all schools will be on remote-learning from Tuesday, April 6 through Friday, April 9, with a return to in-person instruction on Monday, April 12. I realize there are many opinions on the best course of action following Spring Break. This decision takes into account those opinions and other considerations as well.
We are greatly looking forward to welcoming our students back for expanded in-person instruction, as outlined in my Reopening Update at Tuesday’s Board of Education meeting. Although there is much to be hopeful about, health professionals remind us that this is not the time to let down our guard. Please follow the updated travel guidelines as recommended by local, state, and federal health agencies.
With gratitude,
Dr. Dolan
