Westfield Service League, Mayor Celebrate Shopping Local

WSL Hosts Tea to Thank Customers for Support

The Westfield Service League, with the help of Mayor Shelley Brindle, celebrated shopping local and green with a tea recently. Brindle toured the Westfield Service League (WSL) Thrift and Consignments shops and got a behind-the-scenes look at the operations. WSL members sort through donations and do consignment intake. All items are then priced and placed on the sales floors.

Customers appreciate the selection of new and gently loved clothing at reasonable prices. Shopping consignment and thrift helps keep clothing out of landfills and/or our oceans in the form of microplastics.

"I was struck by the committed volunteers and the amazing finds in this store, with all proceeds benefiting local charities," Mayor Brindle shared on Instagram. "Bring your stuff to donate, and purchase some things while you’re at it...all for a good cause." She was referring to grants, funded through sales proceeds, that are awarded to local and area nonprofits.
