Westfield Week in Review

What happened in Westfield this week?

In a heated  Tuesday evening, a large group of Westfield residents let  members know not only are they unhappy about the proposed installation of a lighted turf field at  but they are also upset about the fact that funding for the field has been lumped in with district-wide roof repairs.

At Tuesday's , members of Global Advisors on Smokefree Policy (GASP), a non-profit organization that promotes a smoke-free environment, along with several Westfield citizens, voiced their support for smoke-free parks. GASP advocate Allen Kantz said time is of the essence if Westfield is interested in making its parks smoke-free as the state has a set amount of money earmarked for signage. 

A Wednesday evening turned into a robbery after a suspect, described as a black female between 30 and 40 years old, shoved a loss prevention officer who attempted to apprehend her, according to Westfield Police. The suspect left the store with an unknown amount of stolen merchandise. The investigation is ongoing.
