Westfield White "B" Team added a win to its record when the team travelled to Cranford this Sunday posting a 6-0 victory over a strong Cougar's team.
On the opening series, Westfield's defense came out hitting lead by Mitchell Bryk and Nick Mueller on the defensive line. A big hit in the backfield by Liam Heinbokel forced Cranford to turn the ball over on downs. Jack Curry carried the ball for Westfield but the tough Cougar defense shut down the Blue Devil offence. Parker Hess kicked his first of two long punts of the game that were downed close to the Cranford end zone. Linebacker Vin DiFilippo delivered two consecutive tackles that forced another Cranford turnover.
Running back Jack Curry provided the offensive spark with two carries in the second quarter which Quarterback Christopher Boutsikaris converted to a first down on a QB keeper. A nine yard pass to Hopper Murray put Westfield into scoring position. Curry carried the bill over the goalline to put Westfield ahead 6-0. A Cranford fumble, recovered by Bryk, gave the ball back to Westfield as it headed into half time.

Curry came out running in the third quarter behind a strong offensive line, which included Brendan Collum, Thomas Morley, Ben Meltzer, Hess, Heinbokel, Murray and DiFilippo, but the Cougar defense prevailed. Leading into the fourth quarter, Tim Norris, Owen Colwell and JD Marner took turns keeping Cranford to small gains, while Murray, Colwell and Mueller all delivered strong hits.
Desperate to get something going against the stingy Westfield defense, Cranford attempted to catch the Blue Devils off guard with some trick plays. On third down, Cranford direct snapped the ball to their running back where he was quickly dropped for a loss by Heinbokel forcing fourth down. Cranford then attempted a fake punt on fourth and long only to have the pass broken up by Mueller.

Ryan Bass carried the ball on a long run behind the blocks of Chris Varano, but an interception stopped the Westfield drive. Justin Dudzinksi, DiFilippo, Bryk combined on defense to force a turnover on downs. Following a long Boutsikaris to Varano reception, Cranford snagged a pass and with less than a minute left in the game started a new offensive drive. As the game clockran down,Varano picked off a Cranford pass to end the game.
