Westfield's Green Energy Week Will Include Bike Ride (This Sunday), Energy Fair
A 'Tour de Westfield' bike ride this Sunday will be the first event in Westfield's Green Energy Week.

WESTFIELD, NJ — As part of its ongoing focus on sustainability, the town of Westfield will hold its first Green Energy Week from Sept. 26 through Oct. 2, with a number of community events.
The activities are meant to highlight the importance of green energy to address global warming, and to show easy ways to be part of the solution.

Tour de Westfield
Green Energy Week will kick off on Sunday, Sept. 26, with the Tour de Westfield, the Town’s first-ever resident community biking event. Activities include a two-mile family bike parade led by the Westfield Police Department, a WPD Bike Safety Rodeo, the Tour de Tots activity for younger children on tricycles, and a Safe Bike Check hosted by Jay's Cycle Center. The festivities kick off at 10 a.m. at the North Side Train Station Lot with DJ entertainment.

This event is presented by the Westfield Recreation Commission & Department, in collaboration with the Westfield Police Department, Green Team, Bicycle Advisory Board, BRAKES Coalition, and the Downtown Westfield Corporation.
EV101 Webinar
The Westfield Green Team is partnering with the Central Jersey Electric Auto Association, who will lead this virtual information session on Wednesday, Sept. 29, from 7:30 – 9 p.m. This webinar will discuss the many benefits of driving electric, including state and federal incentives, cost efficiencies, and the health and climate advantages. Alternative Energy Fair
The Westfield Green Team will host its first Alternative Energy Fair on Saturday, Oct. 2, at the South Avenue Train Station Lot to help keep residents informed of eco-friendly solutions in the face of climate change.
Attendees can view electric vehicles, electric bikes, and lawn equipment, and learn all about alternative energy and sustainability programs available in Westfield. The event will also feature live music by local band Save Mary, as well as food offerings from some of Westfield’s restaurants for attendees to enjoy. The rain date is Sunday, Oct. 9. The Alternative Energy Fair is a part of National Drive Electric Week, which is presented by Plug In America, Electric Auto Association, Sierra Club, and EVHybridNoire.
