Will We See You at Westfield's Spring Fling?

The rain-or-shine event features rides, a hot dog eating contest, 300 vendors and more

The long-awaited and much-anticipated 18th annual Spring Fling starts today at 10 a.m. in downtown Westfield. 

Stop by Patch's booth and meet local editors and learn more about blogging opportunities. Anyone who signs up for Patch's daily newsletter will have a chance to spin our wheel and win a prize. Also on hand will be Patch and Internet radio DJ , who will be broadcasting from Patch's booth from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. So be sure to stop by and meet the alternative and indie rock aficionado in person.

Also, check back with Patch throughout the day for photos and information from the street festival as approximately 300 vendors and 20 food purveyors will fill up the downtown area, turning the heart of Westfield into a huge outdoor market.

The sprawling fair will take place on East Broad, Elm, and Prospect Streets. More than 45,000 visitors are expected to attend. Because several streets will be closed for the day, parking is recommended in the municipal lots. 

A 'Kids Zone,' featuring rides, inflatables, a rock-climbing wall and donkey rides will also be available.

Hot dog-lovers can partake in a little friendly competition. A hot dog eating contest will take place during the festival. No advanced registration is necessary. While no prizes will be awarded, entrants will compete for bragging rights. will be providing the hot dogs. All are welcome to participate. 

The annual event, which concludes at 5 p.m., is organized by the Greater Westfield Area Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by Northfield Bank, Seventh Generation, Overlook Medical Center, and Verizon FiOS.
