Woman Killed in Westfield Fire Tuesday Morning
An 80-year-old woman was found unconscious inside her condo, which was filled with smoke.

Westfield, NJ - A woman was killed in a fire that broke out early Tuesday morning in a Westfield condo complex, a firefighter confirmed to Patch.
The call of the fire came in at 5 a.m. Tuesday to 57 Sandra Circle, part of the Wychwood Gardens complex, said Westfield Fire Battalion Chief James Ryan. Within ten minutes of searching the apartment, firefighters found the unconscious body of an elderly woman inside.
The woman was identified as Geraldine Sanford, 80.

CPR was performed on her at the scene, he said, but paramedics pronounced her dead, he said.
“We cannot rule out the possibility of improper disposal of smoking materials,” Fire Chief David Kelly told NJ.com.

The fire was under control by 5:30 a.m. and there were no other injuries, Ryan said. The American Red Cross is assisting two families displaced by the fire.
