Woman Punched In Head During Robbery On Union Street

Samuel Frazier of Vauxhall​ may also be linked to another robbery in town where he punched a woman in the face and broke her jaw: Police.

UNION, NJ — An alleged robber has been arrested after he reportedly punched a woman in the head and stole her purse while walking down the street in Union Township on Aug. 15, Union Police report.

Two witnesses and the victim called 911 reporting that a man, later identified as Samuel Frazier, 41, from Mildred Terrace, Vauxhall, came up to the woman walking on Liberty Avenue, punched her in the head and stole her purse around 9:25 a.m.

The suspect was described as a black man who was last seen running on Liberty Avenue onto Carlton Terrace.

Officers Joe Rubel and Michael Gomes responded to the area within a minute where witnesses said the man was last seen running down Carlton Terrace.

Officers began searching backyards and found the Frazier who began to run away. Officers chased him over fences into other yards until Gomes was able to capture Frazier, Union Police report.

The victim identified Frazier as the person who robbed her. He was then arrested and charged for the robbery. Detective William Fuentes found Frazier's car parked on Carlton Terrace and it was towed from the scene.

Detectives, other officers and a Union County Sheriff's Office K-9 unit all helped to find the victim's purse in a rear yard on Carlton Terrace. The purse was returned to the victim, who had minor injuries from being punched, police report.

Frazier also fits the description of a suspect who did the same type of robbery on Sunday, Aug. 12 on Burlington Avenue, police report.

In that crime he punched a woman in the face and broke her jaw. Detective Fuentes is also investigating that crime as well.
