$1000 to the WOFAS If You Were Confused by westorange.info

During her public comment at the June 25, 2013 Council meeting, the Public Information Officer (PIO), stated that she had received many, many calls from residents who expressed some kind of "confusion" about official township properties since the domain westorange.info was registered by Mr. Freivald.  There are some people who think that she just made this up.

I believe that we should give the PIO the benefit of the doubt.  There could be some people who made the call, simply because they do not like Mr. Freivald, and some may really be confused.   I suggest that we invite at least three of those callers who were really confused, to come to the next Council meeting to show me hardcopy proof, i.e., screen prints or printouts to provide factual evidence of the confusion.   Since Mr. Trenk’s C&D letter stated “The Township interprets this action as an effort by you (Mr. Freivald) to confuse and conflate the Township's official domain name and Web site with the Info Domain that you maintain,” he is talking about confusion of westorange.info with the official West Orange website, which is westorange.org, nada about Facebook, Youtube, Twitter or Instagram, or westorangeinfo.

I surmise that the reason the PIO mentioned westorangeinfo as the official handle of the town’s  Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and Instagram social media, is to highlight the fact that the word westorangeinfo is very similar in spelling to westorange.info. The C&D letter did not mention that the name westorange.info is causing confusion, if at all, on these social media, but only in the World Wide Web (www) arena – westorange.org.

I am strictly sticking on topic with the C&D letter, so if any of the “confused” callers (at least three), can show me the confusion that the domain name (www.westorange.info) has caused them with regard to the official West Orange website (www.westorange.org) whose header on all search engines that I tried (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox) is West Orange, NJ – Official Website, I am putting my money where my mouth is, and will donate, in the name of one of them, $1000.00 to the West Orange First Aid Squad.

Though not part of my offer above, since it is not in the C&D letter, I would really appreciate it if some confused resident can show me factual evidence of how westorange.info caused them confusion in Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, and Instagram (I only use Facebook and Youtube.)

If you go to the domain, westorange.info, and peruse it, you will see a link to the official West Orange website, westorange.org.
