$191M Headed New Jersey's Way Under New Spending Bill: Cory Booker

Federal lawmakers spent the weekend hammering out a critical spending bill. Here's where the cash is headed in New Jersey, Sen. Booker says.

NEW JERSEY — A windfall of $191 million is headed New Jersey's way as part of the latest federal spending package, U.S. Sen. Cory Booker says.

A flurry of activity took place last weekend on the federal spending front, with the House, Senate and President Joe Biden greenlighting a $1.2 trillion bipartisan package – and averting a potential government shutdown in the process.

The legislation includes funds for the U.S. departments of Defense, Homeland Security, Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, State and the legislative branch, CNN reported.

The measure did not include funding for mostly military aid to Ukraine, Taiwan or Israel, which are included in a different bill that the Republican-led House of Representatives has ignored, Reuters reported.

In New Jersey, the bill will funnel $191.6 million to 150 projects across the state during fiscal year 2024, Booker said. That total is up from $166.2 million last year, he noted.
