2 Parked, Unlocked Vehicles Burglarized In West Orange: Police

Someone burglarized two vehicles in West Orange that belong to a landscaping company, authorities say.

WEST ORANGE, NJ — Someone burglarized two vehicles in West Orange that belong to a landscaping company this week, authorities say.

According to a police report, the thefts happened Monday on Hillside Avenue. Officers responded to the area at 11:57 a.m. after getting a report about a motor vehicle burglary. A local homeowner told police that he was having work done at his residence when the thefts took place.

Both vehicles were left parked and unlocked. They were unoccupied at the time of the thefts, police said.

A bookbag was stolen from one vehicle. It contained hand tools and a foot warmer, with a total value of $210. A lunch bag was stolen from the other vehicle. It contained car keys, police said.

Authorities said a nearby surveillance camera may have captured footage of the thefts.
