Message from Mayor Parisi:

The Annual West Orange St. Patrick’s Day Parade is a longstanding tradition and is something our Township has taken great pride in. However, it is not a Township event. The Parade is organized each year by a committed group of volunteers that work tirelessly throughout the year to raise the necessary funds and to organize the impressive display of Irish culture each year…and has done so for the last 68 years.⁣⁣The Township has been working closely with health officials and the Parade Committee, along with Chairman Kevin Brennan, over the last several days in evaluating the impact the concerns of the COVID-19 virus would have on this tradition and the appropriateness of moving forward with this year’s event. ⁣⁣Counting on all available information from local, county and state health officials and with input from the Parade Committee, the decision has been made to postpone this year’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the interest of public safety, the health and well-being of our community and all those that would attend the Parade. We will hope that the spread of this virus will be under control in the near future and will look forward to a tremendous Parade in September as soon as a date can be confirmed.
