3 Car-Related Crimes Reported In West Orange Over 2-Day Span: Police
Two attempted vehicle burglaries involved a "dark-colored sedan" and a man wearing yellow gloves, West Orange police said.

WEST ORANGE, NJ — Three vehicle-related crimes recently happened in West Orange over a two-day span, authorities say.
According to the West Orange Police Department, two of the incidents involved a “dark-colored sedan” and a man wearing yellow gloves.
Police said the following incidents were reported in the township:

Nov. 19 (Cliff Street) – A resident said burglars tried to illegally enter three cars that were parked in his driveway on Cliff Street. Video surveillance footage shows two men walk onto the driveway at 12:36 a.m. The first man pulled on the driver side door handle of two vehicles – a Nissan Pathfinder and a Chevrolet Equinox – but both were locked. The second man was seen at the driver’s side of a third car, a Jeep Grand Cherokee, but wasn’t able to enter the locked vehicle. They both ran towards a dark-colored sedan that was waiting on the street, which picked them up and drove away south on Cliff Street. The first man was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with a white design on the chest area, black jeans, black sneakers, a black crossbody bag and black gloves. The second man was wearing dark clothing and yellow gloves, police said.
Nov. 19 (Stanford Avenue) – An officer responded to a home on Stanford Avenue at 1:10 p.m. after getting a report about an attempted motor vehicle burglary. Video surveillance footage shows a man enter the home’s driveway at 12:29 a.m. He pulled on the driver’s side front doors of two vehicles – a Honda Pilot and a Ford Mustang – but wasn’t able to get inside the locked cars. He then gets into the passenger side door of a dark-colored sedan that was waiting on the street, and the car leaves the scene, traveling north on Edgemont Road. The man in the driveway had a medium build, and was wearing yellow gloves and a “dark-colored” clothing including a mask, hooded sweatshirt, pants and shoes, police said.

Nov. 20 (Condit Terrace) – An officer responded to a home on Condit Terrace at 8:51 a.m. after getting a report about a vehicle burglary. The victim said she walked to her Jeep Wrangler at 8:30 a.m. to find that reusable bags which were in her trunk had been thrown on the ground beside the vehicle. She then saw that the soft top weather guard of the vehicle had been slashed open. The vehicle’s middle console and glove compartment had been rummaged through, but nothing seemed to be missing. The vehicle was left parked and unlocked around 9 p.m. on Nov. 19 in the driveway next to the north side of the home. The damage to the Jeep was estimated at $400 to $500, police said.
