Here’s what to know about the project, according to the township:

The first phase of the work will consist of some new curb and sidewalk only where needed. This phase will take about one week to complete. The street will then be milled and resurfaced, and you will be notified prior to that phase. No parking will be permitted during daytime construction hours along the curb lines on both sides of the street. Daytime vehicular access through the construction area will be limited. If you park your vehicle overnight in the construction area you must move it by 7:00 A.M. on each work day, including Saturdays, and park it legally on another street outside the construction area.

Since some new curb and some new sidewalk will be constructed, you may need to remove your vehicle(s) from your driveway by 7:00 AM on any work day and park legally outside of the work area. The contractor will notify you at the beginning of each work day if the curb will be removed and replaced through your driveway. When that is the case, you will NOT have access to your driveway for several days as the concrete must cure. You will be allowed to park overnight on the street. However, if you do park on the street overnight and the following day is a work day you will need to move your vehicle(s) by 7:00 A.M. and park them legally outside the work area.

Again, no parking will be permitted in the work zone area on your street during daytime construction operations, but you will be allowed to park overnight on the street as the overnight prohibition, if any, will be rescinded. After this phase of work is completed, the pavement surface will be milled and repaved. You will be re[1]notified prior to those operations. The Township’s contractor will topsoil and seed disturbed areas of your front lawn adjacent to the areas where curb has been repaired. You will be responsible to water this area daily until a good stand of turf is established. If you have a sprinkler system, please mark your sprinkler heads prior to the start of construction.

If you have a heated driveway, please advise. Also, please advise if you have an electric dog fence. On days when refuse and recycling are collected, please place them along the curb by 6:00 A.M. on your collection days as we will direct our solid waste hauler to collect your street prior to the daily start of construction. If you have any medical condition or needs that may be affected by the construction, please call the number below so that accommodations may be made during the construction period. Your patience will be appreciated during the construction, and if you have any questions or concerns, please contact our office during business hours at (973) 325- 4160.

CONFORTI AVENUE

The final phase of the improvements to Conforti Avenue will begin the week of Aug. 26, weather permitting. The project consists of milling and pavement resurfacing, as well as the re-installation of speed tables.

Here’s what to know, according to the township:

Pavement Milling: Monday, August 26, 2024 – Conforti Avenue beginning at Eagle Rock Avenue and proceeding toward the intersection of Hooper Avenue and Carteret Street

Pavement Resurfacing: Tuesday, August 27, 2024 – Conforti Avenue beginning at Eagle Rock Avenue ending approximately at Marshall Street. Wednesday, August 28, 2024 – Conforti Avenue beginning at Marshall Street ending at the intersection of Hooper Avenue and Carteret Street.

Speed Table Re-Installation: Re-installation of speed tables at approximately the same locations along Conforti Avenue from Eagle Rock Avenue to Hooper Avenue Commencing Thursday, August 28, 2024 and Friday, August 29, 2024

If the schedule is delayed for weather or any other reason, the schedule will be delayed by a day (or multiple days) as necessary.

During the milling operation, the road will be temporarily closed with access and egress restricted. If you plan to use your vehicle that day, plan to leave by 7:00 A.M. After that you will be delayed in leaving or accessing your home. No parking will be allowed on the street during the operation on the day(s) cited above. During the resurfacing operation, the street will be closed until the paving is completed and the surface has cooled to allow traffic to pass. No parking will be allowed on the streets during this operation on the day cited above. If you plan to leave, please make sure to remove your vehicle from your garage or driveway before 7:00 A.M. and park outside of the construction area. Once the street is milled, if the Pavement Resurfacing operation is delayed for any reason and pushed a day or two, please use extra care exiting and entering your driveways as the curb height will be several inches higher than normal until the final pavement course is placed. Also, if any day is scheduled refuse or recycling collection day, please make sure your containers are placed along the curb by 6:00 A.M. of your collection day. We will make sure the Township’s collector and hauler collects the materials by 7:00 A.M.

Thank you for your patience during the construction, and if you have any other questions or concerns, please call the Engineering Department at 973-325-4160.
