A 'Super Alternative' for Those Not Watching the Super Bowl

What's going on in local West Orange churches.

Pleasantdale Presbyterian Church

has some very super plans for this Sunday!  The 11 a.m. worship will be a special Scout Sunday Observance in honor of the 101st Anniversary of the establishment of the Boy Scouts of America.

All area Scouts, Scout Leaders and their families are welcome to attend. Please plan to wear your uniform to the service. Pleasantdale Church is the proud sponsor of Cub Scout Pack 10 and Boy Scout Troop 2. Light refreshments will be served after the Worship Service.  And, at 7:30 p.m., the church will offer a super alternative for those not watching the game — a Jazz Vespers Service! Jazz Vespers is an evening worship service focusing on music and the Spirit.

This alternative format service blends the age-old tradition of evening prayer with the unique musical language of jazz. It will feature a jazz ensemble led by Dave Rimelis and featuring local musicians. The service also includes special readings, poetry, prayers and communion. The service honors the diversity of the West Orange community and the contribution of the creative arts to the life of the community. It celebrates inclusivity and creativity and is open to all.

Pleasantdale Church is located at the corner of Pleasant Valley Way and Eagle Rock Avenue. The sanctuary is fully accessible.

Our January Blanket Drive was a success! At the United Presbyterian Church of West Orange we collected $550 which will enable Church World Service to purchase 110 blankets for those in need.  These blankets will provide warmth, shelter, privacy and various other uses for people around the world.  Thank you to all who donated to this worthy cause.
