Alzheimer’s New Jersey® to Host Walk at South Mountain Reservation

Alzheimer’s New Jersey®, the first line of local support for New Jersey residents affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia will host a Walk to Fight Alzheimer’s®” on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at the Clipper Pavilion, South Mountain Reservation, in West Orange.

Walk to Fight Alzheimer’s® raises much-needed funds for Alzheimer’s New Jersey programs and services including a toll-free Helpline, Family Support Groups, Community Education Programs, the Respite Care and Wellness Program, Clinical Trial Connections Program®, and research to advance a cure.

More than 600,000 people in New Jersey are affected by Alzheimer’ disease and other dementias including residents from Essex and surrounding Counties. Local families rely on Alzheimer’s New Jersey for personal and confidential assistance, guidance, relief from caregiving, emotional support, and education as they face the emotional and financial challenges of Alzheimer’s disease that can often be overwhelming.

“We hope everyone will join the fight against Alzheimer’s disease this spring and be a part of the inspiration and community that is Walk to Fight Alzheimer’s, say Ken Zaentz, President and CEO of Alzheimer’s New Jersey. “Form a walk team and support your neighbors in need. When you walk with Alzheimer’s New Jersey, 100% of your fundraising benefits New Jersey families through local programs and services. “

People can register for the South Mountain Reservation Walk now by going to www.alznj.org/walk. There is no registration fee. However, fundraising is encouraged and vital to the success of the event. Walkers will receive a promotional item the day of the walk and those who raise $50 or more will receive a complimentary event t-shirt. The days’ festivities will include music, entertainment, surprise guests, refreshments and door prizes. Day of Registration for the walk begins at 8:30 a.m., followed by an opening ceremony, with the walk starting at 10:00 a.m.
