WEST ORANGE, NJ — Get ready for a warm week of weather, West Orange – and the possibility of breaking some daily temperature records.

Surging temperatures could bring a “record-breaking” warmth to New Jersey, according to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service (NWS).

The average temperature in April for New Jersey is in the mid-60s. The record highest temperature in Trenton for April 15 is 87 degrees, which was set in 1994, according to the National Weather Service. RELATED: Record-Shattering Heat To Scorch NJ This Week

In West Orange, a high temperature of 87 degrees is predicted for this week.

This Afternoon: A 20 percent chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 80. Breezy, with a west wind around 21 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph.

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 60. Southwest wind 6 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph.

Tuesday: A 20 percent chance of showers after 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 84. Light west wind becoming southwest 6 to 11 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 22 mph.

Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 65. West wind 6 to 10 mph.

Wednesday: A slight chance of showers between 2pm and 5pm, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 87. Southwest wind 6 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
