ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Three people have been accused of kidnapping a man in New York City, robbing and assaulting him during a trip through the Lincoln Tunnel, and dumping the blood-covered victim in North Jersey, authorities announced Tuesday.
The incident began on June 12 outside a club in Midtown Manhattan and ended in West Orange, according to the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York.
Two New Jersey residents have been arrested in connection with the assault, prosecutors said: Kenny Fetiere, 26, of West Orange, and Kibret Meles, 28, of Livingston.
A third suspect – Dani Amanuel, 28, a New York City resident – remains at large, authorities said.
Prosecutors allege that Fetiere, Meles and Amanuel lured the victim into a car outside the club, telling him that they were giving him a ride to his hotel. Instead, they restrained him once he got inside the car and drove through the Lincoln Tunnel to New Jersey.
Along the way, the assailants demanded that the victim hand over his watch and iPhone. Then they beat him and attacked him with a sharp object – leaving him with multiple facial fractures, a cut to his finger that required stitches, and bruising, authorities said.
The trio allegedly drove to West Orange and abandoned the wounded victim, who was hospitalized for three days after the attack, prosecutors said.
Fetiere, Meles and Amanuel have each been charged with conspiracy to commit kidnapping and kidnapping, prosecutors said.
