WEST ORANGE, NJ — Get ready for some local politics, West Orange.
There are two, competitive races taking place this November in West Orange. A crowded field of seven candidates are duking it out to become the town's next mayor: Joe Krakoviak, Tammy Williams, Susan McCartney, Susan Scarpa, Joyce Rudin, Phillip Orphanidis, and Brian Rock.
Meanwhile, five candidates are competing for two open seats on the township council: Matthew Dvorin, Jackie Hendy, Justin Goldsman, Kenneth Gibbons, and Micaela Bennett.

Several candidate events have been scheduled ahead of the election, which takes place on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
A forum for mayoral candidates will take place at Congregation Ohr Torah, 270 Pleasant Valley Way, at 7:15 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 28. The public is welcome to attend. For more information, call 973-650-0749.
A separate forum for town council candidates will take place at Congregation Ohr Torah at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30.

Meanwhile, another mayoral and town council candidate debate is scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 5 at the United Presbyterian Church of West Orange, 20 Old Indian Road.
The event is being hosted by the West Orange African Heritage Organization in collaboration with the United Presbyterian Church of West Orange.
