WHO WHEN WHERE WHY WHAT
The Mental Health Association in New Jersey, Pleasant Valley Productions, and The New Jersey Creative Arts Collaborative (NJCAC), a non-profit New Jersey Arts organization is proud to recognize that July is BIPOC Mental Health Month. The in person outdoor event will be held at the Oskar Schindler Performing Arts Center located at 4 Boland Drive, West Orange N J on Sunday, July 31st at 12:00-3:00 pm. This event is designed to be a creative expression of celebration, vibrancy, courage, hope and resilience through the unique lens of people of color. You are invited to wear something that represents your cultural origin. There will be artistic vendors ,resource tables with community mental health resources, information, and services.

Why are we doing this? July is BIPOC Mental Health Month - By including “BI” Black and Indigenous in addition to “POC” people of color, we are honoring the unique experiences of Black and Indigenous individuals and their communities, as well as the spectrum of existence and experience by POC.
The impressive line-up of diverse entertainers will be Patricia Walton ,Clarissa Newby-Phillips with her Elite Dance Company, Joanne Ashe, Neal Stephens, Samad Savage, Seychelle Elise. Steve Lovelle, Kaisokah Moko Jumbies U.S.A. Inc ,Doriane Swain, Sarah Soph’ia Baena, and Carl Brister. Your host will be Lynette Sheard, Director, and Community Education coordinator at the Mental Health Association in NJ. Community resources and information will be provided by the Mental Health Association In New Jersey, The Mental Health Association, Hope and Healing, West Orange Arts Council, The New Jersey Department of Health, The Families of Color Initiative, the United Asian Voices of West Orange, The NJ Rapid Response Team, The New Jersey Creative Arts Collaborative,, The Montclair Police Department, Faith McCalla CEO of Discover a New You, and more to be announced. This is a free family friendly event. Free parking is available at an adjacent lot, indoor restroom facilities are available. Donations are welcome. Bring your own chair.
