As a Christian pastor and student of the Bible, I need to agree in part and disagree in part with what I have read here about predictions.
The Bible says that only God the Father knows when the Son (Messiah, Jesus, the mediator of the new and everlasting covenant; according to the Prophet Jeremiah) would return. In fact those are the words of Jesus himself. To say that first century Christians believed in Jesus' imminent return is a little out of context.
At Pentecost, the Church Age dispensation began and it continues until Christ's return. First century Christians understood that. Although some may have believed that Jesus would return in their lifetime.

In other words the Bible is consistent in it's contextual teaching (and it always will be) because it is the Word of God.
I agree that about faith and even historical facts connected to faith. I would advise every child of God to put God first before man, religion and personal philosophy. Take time to explore the doctrine of Jesus and the apostles in order to be perfectly prepared to share with our children (whom God loves) the truth about Him.
