Library to Host Series of Events for Children With Special Needs
The West Orange Public Library will host a series of events for children with special needs starting in May.

Starting mid-May West Orange Public Library will host a free series of programs for children with special needs. The series will feature special education experts from Harbor Haven, who will offer the following programs at the library:
- Music and Movement – May 13, 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. – Certified and experienced music educator and music therapist Ms. Joanne Schlachter will lead this 45-minute session that combines music, movement and yoga.
- Awesome Art – May 20 – 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. – Preschool teacher and special education student Mrs. Rhonda Grindell, who has provided arts and crafts programs at Harbor Haven for five summers, will lead this program. Children will go home with an awesome completed art project!
- Stupendous Sports – June 3, 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. – Certified elementary and special education teacher Mr. Michael Gagliano, who works in Bloomfield as a teacher and coach, will teach sports basics, teamwork, and good sportsmanship.
- Wonderworks Fun Science Activities – June 10, 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. – Certified elementary school teacher Ms. Rachel Lipstein, a lead counselor at Harbor Haven since 2008, will lead children in these “safe” experiments where children can learn fun science concepts.
- Fun Galore Games Puzzles And More – June 17, 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. – Certified history teacher Ms. Kristie Thomas will lead structured time for children to play together, have fun, and build social interaction skills. Session five will end with a celebration with snacks to mark the end of these special sessions.
