National Day of Prayer

National Prayer Night should be a valued American tradition.

Recently, when the township was faced with a crisis — the shooting at a local liquor store — Mayor Robert Parisi had the wisdom to hold a town meeting in a church. By all accounts the meeting was calm and successful. I believe it was so because of the efficacious value of prayer.

The Mayor may have drawn his wisdom from our founding fathers who understood that the success of the colonies was due to divine providence. General of the Continental Army George Washington thought so, too.

In his address when he resigned his commission he stated: " I consider it an indespensable duty to close this last solemn act of my official life, by commending the interests of our dearest country to the protection of Almighty God, and those who have the superintendence of them to His holy keeping."

Well stated General Washington!

I encourage all of us to find time today to pray to our Creator for peace, justice and blessing. We, Unconditional Love Christian Fellowship, will have a prayer meeting tonight at the same church where we witnessed God's peace a week ago. All are welcome to attend.
