Small and round, digital, setback, automatic, rectangular, battery operated...so many choices! Our thermostats control the temperature in our homes and therefore our comfort. But can they save money?
Everyone is cost conscious today, no doubt. In an effort to bring savings to your household while not sacrificing your comfort, and being considerate of your air conditioning system, I thought I’d share some quick tips with you.
• Each degree you adjust your thermostat, up or down can cost or save you 8 percent on your energy costs.
• Set your thermostat at a comfortable temperature while you’re home, avoiding constant changes. Let your thermostat do the heavy lifting.
• Lowering the temperature below 68 degrees may cause your coil to freeze and your system to ice up.
• Ceiling fans will circulate air and can allow for higher settings while still providing comfort.
• Consider a digital setback thermostat
