With Annette DeCicco

A 90-minute multimedia event presenting famous personalities in history and the arts who were/are outstanding communicators, some as storytellers and others who inspired through brevity, metaphor, analogy, and anaphora. Much of the content was based on Carmine Gallo's two published novels, The Storyteller's Secret and Five Stars: The Communication Secrets to Get from Good to Excellent. I also broadcast a TED Talk titled Ten Ingredients for a Meaningful Conversation.

The session introduction is intended to engage the group's attention right away by telling them about the stories that we all have, how to dive deep, and how to communicate personally when appropriate. From there, the many types of stories—origin stories (Howard Schultz/Starbucks), overcoming overwhelming odds stories (JK Rowling/Harry Potter), and rags to riches (Alexander Hamilton and Lin-Manuel).

Annette DeCicco is an educator with an MA in Education from Seton Hall University and holds an NJ real estate broker’s license. Her early career was as an instructor at Essex County College. She segued into real estate as managing broker of several local real estate offices, a role she held for 25 years. She has shared her knowledge at Fairleigh Dickinson U. and Rutgers U. through their programs of lifelong learning.
