Centerstage to Open at West Orange High School this Friday

The West Orange High School student production play, Centerstage, will open on Friday, June 2, at 7 pm, with doors opening at 6:30 pm, at the high school. Admission is $5 at the door.

Centerstage is a show about a group of 10 high school students coming together to attempt to put on a show at their school where clubs are borderline non-existent. With 10 very contrasting personalities, and in-fighting, the students are faced with multiple obstacles along the way, but must learn to come together in rough times to prove to not only the school but themselves what they can do.

Each year, one senior at the high school is selected to run their own completely-student run play. This year, senior Morgan Lanzot-Woodridge was chosen.

“I wanted to write a show about teenage struggles in high school and also in life, and tell a story about coming together in rough times and contrasting personalities. I wanted to portray all of this, being a teenager myself, having lived through these experiences," says Lanzot-Woodridge.

The drama was co-written
by Lanzot-Woodridge, Justin Peters, and Dylan Schatell. It is being co-directed by Lanzot-Woodridge and Schatell.

"I was thrilled to help with writing the script and directing," says Schatell. "It was my first experience working in the theater. I think it's a great play and I hope our audience loves it as much as we do."
