The township released a statement about the friendly visit from West Orange’s new overseas acquaintances:

“West Orange Public Relations Commissioner Dr. Josie Velez arranged the visit with the American African Asian Chamber of Commerce of Flushing, NY.
“The mayor spoke through a translator about the West Orange community and engaged in an informative dialogue during a brief question and answer session. The China delegates presented McCartney a ceremonial plate with a certificate from the artist. Before leaving, the mayor handed out folders to each delegate that included brochures about West Orange and neck wallets on a lanyard that displayed the West Orange logo and a picture of Town Hall.

“Goodwill tours play a pivotal role in fostering understanding and bridging cultural divides. They serve as powerful vehicles for diplomacy as people from different countries engage in meaningful exchanges. The shared humanity that unites us all was on full display at West Orange Town Hall, where smiles and laughter don’t know a foreign accent.”
