Christmas In West Orange: Tree Lighting, Santa Letters, Toy Drive

WEST ORANGE, NJ — There is no shortage of Christmas and holiday events taking place in West Orange for 2022.

A series of winter holiday events will kick off in West Orange this weekend. See the list below.

TREE LIGHTING

An “old fashioned Christmas tree lighting” will take place on Saturday, Dec. 3 at West Orange Town Hall, 66 Main Street.

According to a municipal advisory, the event will begin at 4:30 p.m. with activities including a petting zoo, photos with holiday characters and food vendors. It will conclude with the tree lighting at 6 p.m. See the full schedule of activities here.

SANTA COMES TO TOWN/LETTERS

Santa Claus will be coming to town for a tour of West Orange on Sunday, Dec. 11.

According to a municipal advisory, Santa will begin his tour at 1:10 p.m. at Redwood School, and conclude it at 3:40 p.m. at Washington School, stopping at several others along the way. See the full schedule and list of schools here.

Got a letter for Santa? West Orange residents can drop off their letters at a special mailbox, located outside the recreation building at 60 ½ Cherry Street (town pool).

According to a municipal advisory, to get a return letter from Santa, residents should include their child’s name and complete address. For more information, contact the West Orange Recreation Department at (973) 325-4150.

TOY DRIVE

A “Stuff the Truck” toy drive will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4.

According to a municipal advisory, the event will take place at the West Orange ShopRite at 1 Rooney Circle. All items will be donated to Toys for Tots. Learn more here.
