COVID Death Update In West Orange: Nursing Home, Town Totals

How many deaths have been linked to the coronavirus in West Orange? And how many of those took place in local nursing homes?

WEST ORANGE, NJ — Authorities released the latest coronavirus death totals for West Orange and its nursing homes on Thursday.

According to Essex County officials, the entire town of West Orange has seen 1,065 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 150 deaths linked to the disease, a 14 percent fatality rate.

According to the New Jersey Department of Health, there were 142,704 confirmed cases statewide with 9,946 deaths, a 6.9 percent fatality rate.

Mayor Robert Parisi has also been releasing local coronavirus totals via social media.

According to the New Jersey Department of Health, West Orange's nursing and retirement homes have seen 510 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 109 deaths linked to the disease: a 21.3 percent fatality rate.

The totals included:

  • Daughters of Israel - 103 cases, 17 deaths
  • Alaris Health at West Orange - 47 cases, 10 deaths
  • The Cliffs at Eagles Rock - 66 cases, 13 deaths
  • Green Hill Assisted Living - 27 cases, 3 deaths
  • Brighton Gardens of West Orange - 26 cases, 8 deaths
  • Brookdale Senior Living of West Orange - 67 cases, 13 deaths
  • Complete Care at Summit Ridge - 65 cases, 20 deaths
  • Stratford Manor Rehabilitation & Care Center - 71 cases, 17 deaths
  • House of the Holy Comforter Canterbury Village - 19 cases, 4 deaths
  • Arden Courts of West Orange - 19 cases, 4 deaths

Statewide, there were 27,153 cases of the virus at nursing homes, retirement homes and other long-term care facilities, with 5,168 deaths linked to the disease: a 19 percent fatality rate.
