West Orange Students Named Scholar Athletes

Susannah Crowell and Dylan Pennel recognized at the Essex County Athletic Director's Association Scholar Athlete Awards Dinner.

Susannah Crowell and Dylan Pennell represented West Orange High School with top awards at the Essex County Athletic Director’s Association Scholar Athlete Awards Dinner, held on May 13th at Mayfair Farms. In the annual event both Crowell and Pennell ranked near or at the top academically among student-athletes representing every High School in Essex County.

Susannah Crowell  has earned 11 varsity letters in Cross Country, Winter and Spring Track and Field.  She is a Varsity Captain in Cross Country. Susannah will be the WOHS Class of 2014 Valedictorian.  In the summer she serves as an Assistant Teacher for young people at the Montclair Art Museums, Yard School of Art.  This fall she will attend Princeton University, where she will study Engineering. 

Dylan Pennell has earned varsity letters in Cross Country and Wrestling where he has been team Captain in both sports.  For the last several years Dylan has been a highly successful fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.  He will fulfill his childhood dream of attending the United States Naval Academy where he will study Naval Architecture.
