Dating Workshop For People On Autism Spectrum In North Jersey
JCC MetroWest's "Looking for Love" program will kick off May 14.

Are you an adult between the ages of 21 and 40, navigating the intricacies of dating and relationships while on the Autism Spectrum? JCC MetroWest’s Looking for Love program invites individuals to join a transformative four-week workshop beginning on May 14 designed to foster connections, enhance dating skills, and cultivate lasting relationships.
Led by experienced relationship specialists, the program aims to provide valuable insights and tools necessary for successful dating and relationship building. Participants will engage in interactive sessions, including lectures, group discussions, and engaging activities. Topics covered will include communication strategies, understanding sexuality, self-advocacy, dating safety, managing rejection, and conflict resolution techniques.

A highlight of the program is an exclusive evening with Amy Gravino, M.A., an esteemed autism sexuality advocate and Relationship Coach from the Center for Adult Autism Services at Rutgers University. Amy's expertise and guidance will further enrich the participants' learning experience.
The program culminates in a speed dating event, offering participants the opportunity to meet potential matches. While participation does not guarantee finding a significant other, it promises a meaningful and enriching experience. Additionally, all program participants will be invited to JCC MetroWest’s annual Summer Soiree event as guests, providing a platform to further connect with like-minded individuals.

"The Looking for Love program is a unique opportunity for individuals on the Autism Spectrum to explore dating and relationships in a supportive and understanding environment," said Marisa Cohen, Director of Special Needs Services at JCC MetroWest. "Our goal is to empower participants with the skills and confidence needed to navigate the complexities of modern relationships."
Interested individuals must apply by May 7th, 2024, and successful applicants will be notified after a brief videoconference meeting. A nominal registration fee of $10 is required upon acceptance into the program. The grant supporting this initiative is funded by Autism Speaks, underscoring the program's commitment to serving the Autism community.
