WEST ORANGE, NJ — A car left the road and hit a mother and her two children in West Orange on Thursday. All three – and the driver – were treated at nearby hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

A vehicle traveling west on Eagle Rock Avenue left the roadway near the intersection of Forest Avenue at 3:46 p.m. It struck a woman who was walking in the area with her 5-year-old child and pushing her 2-year-old in a stroller, a West Orange township spokesperson told Patch.

Authorities believe the driver may have experienced a medical episode that contributed to the crash. A police investigation is ongoing, and no formal conclusions have been made as of Friday, the spokesperson said.
